The Transgression of Desolation is an act of sinfulness that leads to the destruction of God's people. In later chapters, this is referred to as the Abomination of Desolation, which typically refers to the mixture of good and evil which results in ruin.

The Ottoman Empire did not perform an abomination of desolation that resulted in their desolation.

The Papal phase of the Roman Empire committed an Abomination of Desolation when the early church began accepting Heathen customs into the Church. This led to the creation of the Papacy which resulted in the Desolation of God's Church. This desolation ended in 1798 when the Pope was captured by Napoleon.

Antiochus Epiphanes did create an Abomination and he did desolate the sanctuary. However, an Abomination of Desolation is a disgusting act that leads to destruction. When you read the account of Antiochus Epiphanes, he desolated Jerusalem first, then sacrificed a pig later. This is not an Abomination that led to desolation, it was desolation that preceded an abomination. This is not the same thing.
